SiteKiosk:
Bug Fix for critical error
On kiosk machines with SiteKiosk versions earlier than 8.7 under Windows 7, the system will in most cases become unusable after Internet Explorer 10 is installed. The affected SiteKiosk versions are 7.1 - 8.6. Any Windows 7 computers that have automatic updates enabled will be affected because Internet Explorer 10 is installed automatically as part of Windows updates.
All software resellers are strongly encouraged to forward this information to the operators of the kiosks. PROVISIO has no information about the end user and therefore cannot directly inform them!

Description
Can you please explain to me how the shell replacement works and why I should turn it on?
It seems that the shell replacement is only available when I am logged in as an admin and not as a restricted user.
Does the shell replacement then automatically login as a restricted user for me?

>>> Can you please explain to me how the shell replacement works and why I should turn it on? <<<
The general definition of Windows shell replacement... Simply put, a Shell replacement is when a software like SiteKiosk that integrates with your Windows environment to replace the default Windows shell. In other words, The graphical user interface that you use to manipulate your programs in.
This is the safest option! After booting your Windows computer, you will usually see the desktop with its icons and the taskbar first.
In order to hide the desktop from the user, we have integrated the option "Replace the current system shell" into SiteKiosk. If turned on, this option will load only SiteKiosk. This will prevent users from accessing other applications during startup.
>>>> It seems that the shell replacement is only available when I am logged in as an admin and not as a restricted user.<<<
You should always log into your Admin User account when making configuration changes to SiteKiosk, you will rarely need to log into the SiteKiosk Restricted User account (only on rare occasions such as changing user dependent settings). When you start SiteKiosk in "AutoStart Mode" from your Admin account.... The computer will reboot and SiteKiosk will automatically log into the Restricted User Account.
>>>>Does the shell replacement then automatically login as a restricted user for me?<<<<
Yes it does.

The password for the Restricted User Account is not managed/created in the control panel > User Accounts as yous standard User Account Password is. If for example you nee to change the password for the SiteKiosk Restricted User Account:
1. Log on to the terminal as the administrator
2. Select Start > All Programs > SiteKiosk > System Security Manager
3. Then navigate to Customized > User Account > Change Password.

Ok that sounds good, there is one more issue that I can think of.
The computer requires access to a prepaid broadband internet account which is accessed via the USB.
However someone has to be there to manually connect the computer to the internet, is there a way to automate that process as well, otherwise the computer would have no internet connection.

If the process can be automated in the Windows Operating System, without SiteKiosk running, then you should not have a problem. You may try adding the application associated with the USB broadband device to the "applications list" in SiteKiosk, then select the option to start the program automatically. If the application requires user input (entering credentials)... SiteKiosk will not be able to fully automate this.
